Lima

Barely out of the states and Bobby was already making friends. Olger the nice Peruvian that drew Bobby a map of the must see places in Peru on a vomit bag. Thanks Olger, you the man.  On a stop over in Costa Rica, we were privileged to taste our first knock off pizza supposedly from papa johns (too expensive and too small).

With that said, Lima was not exactly the beautiful city we had hoped for.  Although, after a convoluted cab drive, we ended up in San Isidro, the 'artsy' district of Lima.

When you fly into Lima, the area around the airport is a mess. Oddly, Lima has a constant fog that adds more haze to the already-dirty area. We would typically really look forward to exploring just about anywhere, but we couldn't wait to leave the area around the airport. The driving in Lima (and as we later found true for all of Peru) is like nothing we have ever experienced: no lines, no laws, almost hit a bike cop!!

But San Isidro is much nicer and we had the best dinner at a little outdoor cafe.  We believe it is where most of the politicians live. In fact, it is so nice that the gas station's serve wine to the drivers while filling up!!

Luckily, a friend of Bobby's was flying into Lima later that night and his intended roommate could not come. Enter Bobby and Natalie to the rescue!! we crashed in his very nice hotel for the night (notice: hotel not hostel).

The next day, the three of us explored another nice area of Lima called Miraflores. It is the wealthy and coastal part of Lima. Bobby said it reminded him of Santa Monica (but with fog).

The following day we, along with Raj and his friends were scheduled to fly out to Cusco. We woke up early, ready to go, arrived at the airport only to find that our flight had been changed from 9:40 to 2:30. Of course, we were supposed to be on notice by an mysterious email that never arrived.

We ate more crappy pizza at the airport and befriended a German girl who gave us insight into her thoughts about Americans (gluttons!) and what to do in Cusco.

Plane ride was simple enough (but Natalie always feels sick unless she is walking).

finally: CUSCO
